The Reel Review
If you adore director Wes Anderson (Moonrise Kingdom, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Royal Tennebaums), then you certainly will adore this period comedy/murder mystery about a beleaguered European hotel concierge and his lobby boy. But, if you are like the vast majority of moviegoers, then you will find his quirky characters, stylish set design and cutesy plot twists only mildly amusing, and not nearly enough to overcome a dreadfully dull, pretentious, uninspired story. (I actually nodded off a couple of times.) Ralph Fiennes, however, is excellent.
