The Reel Review
Lauren Cohan (Maggie from The Walking Dead) is Greta, a newly-hired nanny at a remote English estate – only there is a catch. The child she’s been hired to take care of is actually a super creepy looking, life-sized doll. When a series of mysterious events occur, Greta starts to wonder if the doll is possessed by the spirit of the boy who once lived there.
The film has solid production values – great visuals, an intriguing story and a good score (from The Walking Dead composer Bear McCreary), and Cohan and Diana Hardcastle (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) deliver solid performances, despite a story that, like so many horror films, gets a bit contrived and goes off the rails in the third act.
