The Reel Review
Comedian Kumail Nanjiani stars in this romantic comedy about his real life courtship with his girlfriend Emily, as they navigate his family’s pressures to marry a Pakistani girl, an emotional breakup and Emily’s subsequent hospitalization with a mysterious, life-threatening illness. The story is a fresh, funny, poignant and honest look at relationships – made even better due to an extremely likable supporting cast (Zoe Kazan and Holly Hunter are outstanding). The only negative – at two hours, the film is a tad bit long – but well worth it, proving that romcoms can be entertaining and still have something important to say about forgiveness and second chances.
