The Reel Review
This is an astonishingly good indie horror film, about two people trying to get from Costa Rica back to the U.S. amidst an alien invasion that has infected northern Mexico. If you are expecting a Michael Bay style, special effects-laden extravaganza, you will be happily disappointed. This is a realistic, slow burn of a sci-fi horror film, one part War of The Worlds and part African Queen with a healthy dose of relationship drama. Although the story meanders a bit at times, the visual effects are well done, and the monsters are effectively scary. This movie packs a subtle but solid punch.
