The Reel Review
Given its crazy stranger-than-fiction true story and all star line-up of Zach Galafianakis, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Owen Wilson, this comedy, based on the famous 1997 $17 million robbery of a Loomis Fargo armored truck facility near Charlotte, North Carolina, should have been box office gold. Instead, it is a series of misfired slapstick and really lame jokes. Still, the story of “the hillbilly heist,” which today remains one of the nation’s largest cash robberies, is an interesting one, just for the sheer mind numbing idiocy of its perpetrators.
