The Reel Review
A drifter with a checkered past wanders into a sleepy farming community in rural Luxembourg looking for work. There, he discovers the bucolic, close-knit village also has a past of its own. Although this EVENTUAL thriller grows about as slow as the village’s surrounding corn fields (at least until its final act), and the story is somewhat predictable, it has a cool, creepy, surreal vibe and provides a nice glimpse into life in rural Europe and the ties that bind the continent’s rural inhabitants. Frederick Lau and Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread) are also quite charismatic onscreen and Lau also cleans up pretty well in the final act.
