The Reel Review
This is the story behind the inspiration for Winnie The Pooh, perhaps the most beloved children’s book of all time. When World War I veteran and playwright A.A. Milne moves his family to the English countryside, his son Christopher Robin’s stuffed animal collection inspires his famed novel, inadvertently turning the boy into an overnight celebrity to the point of maddening exploitation.
While fans will delight in seeing the inspiration behind all the characters, and Will Tilston as young Christopher and Kelly Macdonald as his beloved nanny will tug at your heartstrings, Milne’s war-Induced PTSD scenes feel contrived to the point of ridiculousness and by the end you will feel just as exploited and manipulated by this story as Christopher Robin was in real life.
