The Reel Review
Not since Fatal Attraction has a movie so adeptly captured the dread (and craziness!) of a relationship gone horribly wrong.
Ben Affleck is a husband suspected of murder when wife Rosamund Pike, in a career-defining performance, goes missing, and their façade of the picture-perfect marriage crumbles amidst the media frenzy.
A few small missteps – casting Tyler Perry as a high profile defense attorney (thank God he didn’t play it as Madea), some obvious plot holes, and a little too over-the-top third act – keeps what is certain to become an über creepy classic from being truly master class. As a thriller, however, director David Fincher’s film is exceptional.
