The Reel Review
At first glance, this appears to be a predictable story about a gifted young math whiz at the center of custody battle between her grandmother and uncle (Captain America’s Chris Evans, who, this time, plays another type of superhero) over what type of life is best for the young genius. It even has Octavia Spencer as the stereotypical sass-talking neighbor. However, a cleverly-constructed third act injects this tearjerker with lots of heart. And like the math prodigy she portrays, young McKenna Grace proves herself to be quite the acting prodigy.
