The Reel Review

B

The daily life of a stand-up comedian is lonely, sad and to most people, pretty tragic. But to the small group of individuals who thrive on making strangers laugh, it is all worth it, as evidenced in these interviews with a line-up of successful comedians including Jerry Seinfeld, Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Tiffany Haddish, the late Garry Shandling and Sarah Silverman. While the documentary doesn’t offer much new insight, it does provide some laughs as well as an appreciation for the suffering comedians endure – their insecurities and screwed up lives, as well as how they cope with hecklers and the occasional bad shows.

On Netflix, Amazon and iTunes.
