The Reel Review
A mother mourning the death of her young child is kidnapped by a deranged serial killer while hiking in the woods of Northern California. She escapes, but has only minutes to hide before a drug paralyzing her starts to take effect. Kelsey Asbille (Yellowstone, Wind River) and Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story) star in this crime thriller.
Working from a dull, threadbare screenplay from writers T.J. Cimfel and David White (Intruders), directors Brian Netto and Adam Schindler settle into a predictable same ole same ole plot after a somewhat intriguing start, with our killer taking out each person our damsel in distress manages to implore (with only her eyes – not kidding! she can’t move!) for help. There isn’t really any character development, so it’s hard to be invested in our heroine or figure out the killer’s motives.
Technically speaking, Don’t Move is fine enough, but it is further let down by a lackluster, anti-climactic ending. At least it’s only an hour and a half.
