The Reel Review
CNN’s six part documentary series is a fascinating, thorough look at the biggest family name in American politics – a family that has had about as many movies and television programs made about them as there are Kennedys – and there are a lot. Where this one differs, and in many ways is better, is that it doesn’t just talk about Kennedys, we hear FROM them – both in archival and current interviews. Narrated by Martin Sheen, it is a fast-paced, well-produced, interesting series, filled not only with the expected milestones, but with enough lesser known facts to surprise all but the most hardcore Kennedy fans, featuring reels of archival footage and home movies that showed the camera-conscious Kennedys to be ahead of their time at the dawn of our era of television.
