The Reel Review
Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi extravaganza stars Harrison Ford as a blade runner, a futuristic bounty hunter in the year 2019 on the hunt for a group of five human/machine hybrids called replicants who have escaped to Earth and are on the run. The film was considered innovative at the time with its futuristic visual effects and brooding theme, and while it is interesting to see which elements have since come to fruition (FaceTime) and which haven’t (flying cars, environmental ruin, shoulder pads and bad hairdos), the plot itself is exceptionally weak, disjointed and just not that interesting.
