Timothée Chalamet and Steve Carell star in this heartbreaking biographical drama about the havoc a young man’s years-long meth addiction, recovery, and recurring relapses wreaks on himself and his immediate family.

Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name) skillfully captures the deceptive nature of drug addicts, who, as those with firsthand knowledge are aware, habitually lie to and deceive those around them, as they try to turn them into unsuspecting enablers. While co-writer/director Felix van Groeningen’s screenplay, based on the best-selling memoirs of David and Nic Sheff, at times meanders and lacks the emotional depth to make this story of despair great, it is the award-worthy performances from Chalamet, Carell and Maura Tierney that will strongly resonate with those with loved ones in the throes of drug addiction.
