Mandy Moore and Claire Holt star as sisters cage scuba diving with enormous Great White sharks off the coast of Mexico when the cable snaps, dropping them, yes, 47 meters to the ocean floor.
Smartly snatched from a straight-to-DVD release at the last minute a few years ago, this clever moneymaker cranks out one preposterous yet entertaining dilemma after another: running out of air, fear of abandonment, being turned into living chum by falling debris – all while being mercilessly chased by sharks that seem REALLY upset that a former teen pop diva is in their home.
As mindless entertainment goes, this could be a case study, despite its somewhat clever, yet maddening ending.
