The Reel Review
Christopher Guest reunites his acting troupe for another ensemble mockumentary – this Netflix original film targets the world of mascot competition. (Is that even really a thing?!) His earlier efforts Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show were hilarious, cleverly-written satire filled with tons of quotable moments about ordinary people who take themselves way too seriously. And while it’s nice to see some of the crew (Jane Lynch, Fred Willard, Parker Posey, Jennifer Coolidge) reunite for this latest effort, the story itself is disappointingly half-hearted, peppered with way more misses that laughs that makes the cast look like those awkward guests who don’t know when to leave after the party is over.
