The Reel Review
Critically-acclaimed director Ira Sachs (Love Is Strange) directs this indy drama about two teenage boys in Brooklyn whose burgeoning friendship is tested when an uncomfortable financial matter creates a rift between their parents. Despite some wonky camerawork and pacing, it is a thought-provoking story showing how unforeseen circumstances can result in life-changing events. The ensemble cast, led by Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty, The King’s Speech), is also quite good.
