First Look: Top Gun: Maverick
Top Gun: Maverick will be spiraling into a theater near you next summer.
The new trailer for the long-awaited sequel to the 1986 blockbuster was released today. In the film, Cruise’s Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is now a flight instructor training a new generation of pilots.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion), Top Gun: Maverick will star Miles Teller (Whiplash, War Dogs) as “Rooster,” a flight trainee who also happens to be the son of Maverick’s late best friend Goose, Jennifer Connelly (Alita: Battle Angel, A Beautiful Mind) as a bar owner and Maverick’s love interest and Jon Hamm as a Navy vice admiral.
And yes, Val Kilmer is also back, reprising his role of Iceman, Maverick’s friend and former nemesis.
Top Gun composer Harold Faltermeyer is teaming up with Hans Zimmer on the score, which will feature the iconic Kenny Loggins song, “Danger Zone.”
Top Gun: Maverick is slatted for release in the U.S. on June 26, 2020.
