A brilliant data scientist must face her deep distrust of Artificial Intelligence when she finds herself needing AI assistance to find and destroy a rogue AI robot trying to kill all human life. Jennifer Lopez, Sterling K. Brown and Simu Liu (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) star in this Netflix sci-fi drama.
Wow, this movie is bad – like intensely bad. The story makes no sense, the messaging about AI is confusing, the acting is atrocious and the special effects and set pieces range from silly to just plain awful. But hey, there is Lopez, gamely parroting every gleefully bad bit of dialogue, despite not being at all convincing as our brilliant data scientist.
This film from schlockmeister director Brad Peyton (Rampage, San Andreas) truly is a slog to endure, its presumed Netflix target audience being those happy with lots of visuals and nothing more. How did such a bad movie get made? And how were Lopez, Liu, Brown and Mark Strong convinced to take part? Poor Jennifer Lopez – her agent must really hate her.
