The Reel Review
A young couple collects old folk songs throughout rural Ireland for their cult, which believes the tunes hold the key to modern alchemy. But when their cult leader surreptitiously records an ancient tune, a curse is released, in this Irish horror.
All You Need is Death relies heavily on a creepy nighttime setting, montages and a ghoulish heavy metal score to set its spooky mood. But all the creaking doors and eerily-lit tchotchkes fail to drum up much suspense in this film featuring an interesting premise that just fails to deliver.
Simone Collins, who resembles a young Jami Gertz, leads the cast of otherwise mostly amateurish acting performances, further hobbled by writer/director Paul Duane’s tiresome story that too often makes little to no sense.
